RE: Towing a Jeep Wrangler on a Tow Dolly?

eelya1, I don't think any of the information you conveyed is "vague".
From the auto manufacturer's standpoint, "not recommended" is not vague. It means "don't do it", unless you are willing to assume responsibility for any damage, i.e., "NO WARRANTY".

RE: Resize photos for forum

The easiest way I've found is to use what's available in XP (if you have it). Simply pull up your list of pictures with Windows Explorer, right-click on the picture you want to change. Then choose "resize picture" from the pull down menu, and choose whatever size you want. Also, the advanced menu lets you make them a custom size.

RE: Fire Fox Bookmarks

Let's go back to basics. Is this a problem that just started or has it been with you a long time? If it just started, have you changed your location lately?
I find that I get these kind of problems when I'm moving around to different RV park WIFI setups. Many don't have enough repeaters or a server that can handle the park's peak WIFI demands.

RE: Power Gear levelers

Spray some silicone on the rams next time before you retract the jacks. Sometimes when they get dry, they will not retract in a timely manner, and the alarm keeps going until the "jacks down" light goes out. I spray mine every time I have to retract them.

RE: wiring a Jeep wrangler with 6 pins connector

I used the CoolTech wiring harness on my 2008 Wrangler. Does not very well apply to the OP's 2004 Wrangler.

RE: Workhorse speedometer cluster problem

Go to the Workhorse website Workhorse and register your chassis VIN with them. Then you will get a list of the campaigns that are open against your VIN.
BTW, due to the number of cluster failures Workhorse is continuing to fix them even if the chassis is out of warranty. Get in touch with your local Workhorse service center.

Mine does that when I have a flaky signal to the WIFI hookup or when the RV park comm server connection to the internet is not working correctly.

RE: Checking tire pressure with jacks down...

The next time you buy new tires, watch the installer and see where the tire is when he inflates it to pressure. My guess is that the tire will be on the changer or the balance machine.

RE: Safety cables and umbilical cord: Coiled or straight?

Coiled cables don't cause me any problems. In fact, I use a loop of the cable to hold down the towbar levers when I'm unhooking. Here's some pics Jeep Hookup.

RE: wiring a Jeep wrangler with 6 pins connector

Of course, you can use what you have pictured. All you need is what Bilarf drew for you - brn for tail, wht for gnd, yel for LT, and grn for RT. If you don't need the blue wire for electric brakes, cut it off. If you don't need the black/red for more 12VDC, cut it off. Hook the wires you have left into the Jeep harness behind some diodes, or wire them up to some extra bulbs.

RE: Vin location on a 2003 Fleetwood

The VIN on my Southwind is the VIN assigned by the chassis builder - Workhorse. That's the number listed on the sheet on the cabin wall. Maybe your chassis builder can be of some help with the location on the chassis.

RE: wiring a Jeep wrangler with 6 pins connector

Since you don't have any existing wiring to use, you may want to use an add-on light kit such as the one sold by Blue Ox. That way, you don't have to cut into the Jeep wiring, and you don't have to get involved with any diode setup.

RE: Tight turns with 4-Down Toad

You probably will be putting some undue stress on the towbar in a tight turn, but you have a towbar rated for 10K lbs, and will be moving slowly. I have pulled my Jeep around corners as tight at the front wheel cut will go and have not damaged any of my tow equipment.

RE: Do I have to remove a fuse to tow 2004 Jeep Unlimited

I only have experience with Blue Ox equipment, and I think you get what you pay for. My bar is an Aventa II (earlier version than in your link) and I like the 10K lb. rating.
You can get by with a 4-wire connector (tail, rt, lt, brake=both rt/lt), but I used the 6-wire that came with the Blue Ox add-on light kit mostly because there is a locking clip to keep them together. BTW, the add-on light kit allows you to wire up tail bulbs without cutting into the Jeep wiring harness and using diodes.
Also, you may want to think about a supplementary braking system for your Unlimited, which may weigh 4K lbs., depending what you load in it when you tow. I use a Blue Ox Apollo set to help in hard braking situations, and it certainly gives me a little more peace of mind.

RE: Do I have to remove a fuse to tow 2004 Jeep Unlimited

Did I miss something? Who said anythingabout a 2004 2WD Wrangler?
In 2004, an Unlimited is a Wrangler on a stretched frame. Google "2004 Jeep Unlimited" and see how many times Wrangler is mentioned.

RE: Do I have to remove a fuse to tow 2004 Jeep Unlimited

Here's some pics of my setup Blue Ox Wrangler. Don't try it this way without some reinforcement behind the stock bumper.
No need to pull any fuses. The ODO doesn't run with the ignition off. Here's how you hookup
Connect the towbar, safety cables, etc. to the JeepPut the transfer case in neutralPut the tranny in any gear (Park it auto)Insert the ignition key and turn it one click toward startTow away
Make sure the parking brake is off. Mucho smoke happens if it isn't.
BTW, there were no 2WD Wranglers produced in 2004, so ignore warnings about them.
